Rajnath Singh said that in 2014, our domestic defense production was only Rs 46,000 crore, which means we were able to make weapons and equipment worth only Rs 46,000 crore in India. But today it has increased to a record Rs 1 lakh 78 thousand crore. Apart from this, India’s defense export at the time of 2014 was very less. We used to be able to sell arms and equipment worth less than Rs 1,000 crore to the world, but today it has increased to a record Rs 38,424 crore. Under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign, we are promoting indigenous capabilities in strategic sectors like aerospace and defence. Initiatives like Make in India, Defense Acquisition Process and Technology Development Fund are playing an important role in this direction.

The Defense Minister said, our aim is to create a defense ecosystem where innovation, industry and self-reliance together will further strengthen the security power of the new India. On the possibilities of future war, Singh said, both the future war and the future economy will run on chips, hence the semiconductor ecosystem being developed in Gujarat, Sanand and Dholera will, in a way, become the pillar of India’s technological sovereignty. From AI to quantum computing, cyber security to space technology, this ecosystem of Gujarat will strengthen us in every field.
