Will the vote be deducted if not found at home? Know the answer to every important question regarding SIR

In Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Meghalaya and Jharkhand, the Election Commission has started the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of voter lists from Tuesday. Under this campaign, Booth Level Officers (BLO) will go door-to-door to verify voters from June 30 to July 29. During this time they will give enumeration form to each family and later get it filled and will also take it back. Now many questions are arising in the minds of voters regarding this SIR.

The Election Commission says that the purpose of this campaign is to completely update the voter list, so that only the names of eligible people remain in the voter list and the names of those who are not eligible are removed. After the completion of the verification process, the draft voter list will be released on August 5. After this, from August 5 to September 4, people will be able to register their claims and objections. At the same time, the final voter list will be published on October 7.

What if the house is found locked when BLO arrives?

People are worried that if they are out of office or for some work and their house is locked, will their vote be cut off? The Election Commission has made it clear that this will not happen at all. If your house is found closed then the BLO will leave the form there. After this, the BLO will visit your house at least three times to collect the form. Apart from this, if you want, you can also fill this form online by visiting the official voter portal of the Election Commission without waiting for the BLO.
