The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly on the verge of ending the Kawhi Leonard era, with multiple reports indicating that the franchise is finalizing a blockbuster trade that would send the two-time NBA Finals MVP back to the Toronto Raptors. The deal is pending physical examinations and has not yet been officially announced.
According to reports, the Clippers would receive Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two first-round draft picks, one first-round pick swap, and two second-round picks in exchange for Leonard. The package reflects Toronto’s determination to reunite with the superstar who led the franchise to its only NBA championship in 2019.
Leonard joined the Clippers as a free agent in the summer of 2019 with championship expectations. However, injuries repeatedly disrupted his tenure in Los Angeles. Across seven seasons, he played just 331 of a possible 554 regular-season games, though he remained one of the league’s elite two-way players whenever healthy.
Despite the injuries, Leonard enjoyed one of the best offensive seasons of his career in 2025-26. The 35-year-old averaged a career-high 27.9 points, along with 6.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 65 games. He also earned his seventh NBA All-Star selection and finished seventh in MVP voting, reminding the league that he remains one of basketball’s premier talents.
The reported move also signals a new direction for the Clippers. After previously trading away key veterans, the organization appears to be reshaping its roster with younger talent and future draft assets. Acquiring Brandon Ingram and multiple first-round picks would give Los Angeles greater flexibility as it begins its next chapter.
For Toronto, Leonard’s return would reunite the franchise with the player who delivered its historic 2019 NBA title. If the trade is completed, it will mark one of the biggest moves of the 2026 NBA offseason and officially close an eventful seven-year chapter of Kawhi Leonard’s career with the Clippers.
