Amarnath Yatra Resumes 2026: The annual Amarnath Yatra 2026 has started from today. The pilgrims began their journey through the Baltal route amid rain and devotional cheers. The journey was stopped for a while due to rain in between. But as soon as the rain subsided, the journey was resumed and the entire valley echoed with the cheers of Bam Bam Bhole. Thousands of devotees set out on the journey amid tight security and elaborate administrative and logistics arrangements to reach the holy cave of Lord Shiva.
This year, the 57-day long Shri Amarnath Yatra will continue till August 28, which will give an opportunity to more devotees to participate in this holy journey. A day before the start of the yatra, on Thursday, the first batch of devotees left from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu under the surveillance of security forces and reached both the base camps at Baltal in Ganderbal district and Nunwan (Pahalgam) in Anantnag district.
More than 4 thousand devotees turned out
A total of 4,822 devotees set out on the yatra in two convoys running under security cover. Of these, 2,510 pilgrims reached Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camp, while 2,312 pilgrims passed safely from Baltal base camp.

On reaching Baltal, the devotees were warmly welcomed by Jammu and Kashmir Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Transport Minister Satish Sharma, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Armed Police Maqsood Ul Zaman, Ganderbal Deputy Commissioner Jatin Kishore and Ganderbal Senior Superintendent of Police Sudhanshu Dhama. The officials met the devotees and wished them a safe, peaceful and spiritually enriching journey.
Police force (CAPF) and health department deployed
Officials assured the devotees that complete arrangements for elaborate security, traffic management and public facilities have been made in coordination with Ganderbal Police, Civil Administration, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Health Department and other concerned agencies.

The administration has set up ‘helping hands’ to assist the devotees on the yatra route. Teams, assistance booths and 24-hour police have been deployed to provide guidance, emergency assistance and uninterrupted movement of devotees.

Appeal for cooperation from devotees
The officials appealed to the devotees to follow all the guidelines issued by the administration and cooperate with the security personnel during the entire yatra. Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, security forces, civil administration, local residents, service providers and volunteers have together made elaborate arrangements to ensure a safe, secure and smooth conduct of this year’s Amarnath Yatra.
Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated its commitment to provide a safe and memorable Yatra experience to every pilgrim and wished all the devotees a successful and spiritually auspicious Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
