Guard buried under debris due to Venezuela’s devastating earthquake, found alive after 8 days, many countries tried hard

Eight days after the devastating earthquake that occurred in Venezuela on June 24, a miraculous incident has come to light. Security guard Hernán Alberto Gil Flores, 43, has been pulled alive from the debris of the ‘Galerias Playa Grande’ shopping center in La Guaira. Flores was on duty on the night shift when the earthquake struck. His small safety cabin amid the collapsed building proved impenetrable, protecting him from being buried under the debris and maintaining his oxygen supply.

‘Don’t tell my wife’

When rescuers discovered him under the debris, Flores’s first reaction was emotional. He pleaded with the rescue team not to inform his wife Gusmar Gonzalez that he was alive. He was afraid that if he couldn’t get out in the end, his wife would be heartbroken. However, international rescue teams did not lose heart and dug a special tunnel through heavy rain and aftershocks to get Flores to safety.

This severe seismic disaster has caused huge loss of life and property in northern Venezuela.
