New Delhi: A very painful and heartbreaking news has come out from the south-western region of Pakistan. On Friday morning, a speeding passenger bus lost control and fell into a deep and rocky gorge near the border of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan province. In this horrific accident, at least 40 people have died on the spot, while 8 other passengers have been seriously injured. The local administration has expressed fear that the death toll will increase.

Bus went out of control in Dana Sir area

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed the incident and said that the incident took place in Dana Sar area of the hilly region. The bus was running at a very high speed on the highway. Meanwhile, at a turn, the driver completely lost control over the vehicle, after which the bus fell straight off the road into a deep ditch filled with stones. The collision was so strong that the bus was blown to pieces.

More passengers than capacity and overloading became the reason

The bus which met with the accident was already packed with passengers. During the journey, another bus broke down on the way, whose passengers were also boarded in the same bus. Due to this, more people had boarded the bus than the prescribed capacity. In the initial investigation, seating more passengers than the capacity and high speed are considered to be the main reasons for this major accident.

President and Chief Minister expressed grief

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed deep sorrow over this tragic incident. He expressed his deep condolences to the families of the deceased and directed the concerned authorities to provide the best medical facilities for the treatment of the injured.
