Saudi Arabia: More than 2 lakh drug pills caught on the border, goods were being brought hidden in Agal cords

A major attempt to smuggle drugs across the Saudi Arabian border has been foiled. Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has intercepted a huge consignment of 2,08,836 amphetamine tablets at Al Hadithah Border Crossing. Security officials stopped this smuggling with the help of modern machines and detector dogs.

These intoxicating pills were being brought hidden inside a truck in a shipment of Agal cords. When officials examined the truck closely, they found illegal cargo.

ZATCA spokesman Hamoud Al-Harbi said the action was followed by coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control. After this, two people who were waiting for this shipment were arrested inside Saudi Arabia.

Al-Harbi said the Saudi government is closely monitoring all its sea, air and land ports. Its main objective is to stop smuggling and keep the society safe. The Home Ministry and the Narcotics Control Department are working together in this work.

Officials have appealed to the general public that if they get any information about smuggling or violation of customs law, then inform it immediately. For this, ZATCA has issued special helpline numbers:

  • Security Hotline: 1910
  • International Number: +966 1910
  • Email: 1910@zatca.gov.sa

The spokesperson also said that the identity of the person giving the news will be kept completely secret and the person giving correct information will also be given a financial reward.
