₹299 paise is being deducted every month from UPI AutoPay? How to check active UPI Mandate and close it immediately

Tezzbuzz Desk- Nowadays OTT platforms, music apps, fitness apps and online education services offer 7 days or 30 days free trial to attract new users. But many times this free trial later proves to be expensive. While starting the trial, permission for UPI AutoPay or UPI Mandate is inadvertently given, after which the fixed amount starts automatically deducting from the bank account every month as soon as the trial ends.

If this auto-debit is not stopped in time, money may continue to be deducted without your knowledge for months.

What is UPI AutoPay or UPI Mandate?

UPI AutoPay is a facility through which, once permission is given, payment is made automatically from the bank account on the scheduled date. It is used for OTT subscriptions, music apps, gym memberships, insurance premiums, utility bills and many digital services.

Even if you stop using a service, but its AutoPay Mandate remains active, payments can continue from your account.

Why can’t we find out on time?

Often users click on “Agree” or “Continue” without reading the terms and conditions. AutoPay approval also gets done during this period. Since the amount deducted every month is relatively small like ₹ 199, ₹ 299 or ₹ 499, many people do not realize it for a long time.

How to check how many UPI AutoPay are active

If you feel that money is being deducted from your account without your knowledge, then definitely check all your active UPI Mandates.

For this go to NPCI’s UPI Help Portal. Log in with the help of mobile number linked to Aadhaar. After logging in, see the list of all active UPI Mandates. Revoke or cancel those mandates which are not needed.

You can also close it through UPI app

If the option to remove Mandate is not available on the portal, then it can also be turned off through the respective UPI app. Active subscription can be canceled by going to AutoPay or Mandate section in these apps. PhonePe, Google Pay
