‘Don’t look at his age, feed him…’, Kapil Dev’s statement on feeding Vaibhav Suryavanshi, told why he should get a chance

Former Indian captain Kapil Dev admitted that Vaibhav Suryavanshi is a very talented player. But he also said that he is yet to perform in the Test format. When he performs there and plays 5 overs maiden, that will be his real test. World Cup champion captain Kapil Dev also compared Vaibhav’s talent with Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Talking about Vaibhav Suryavanshi on Sports Tak, Kapil Dev said, “I have not seen Vaibhav Suryavanshi playing much, but as per what I have seen, I can say without any doubt that he is a very talented player. But, we are talking about him more than necessary. Now give him some time. He is young, he does not understand that much yet. But, if you talk about talent, he is as talented as Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.”

“So much talent is visible in him. He still has to prove himself in T-20 cricket… When he plays test matches, then we will know whether he can play 5 overs maidens… He is amazing in T-20, there will probably be no one in the whole world who can make such an impact at such a young age.”

On one hand, many veterans say that Vaibhav Suryavanshi should get a chance to debut. So the team management says that they will have to wait for their turn and go through the same process that other players go through.

While talking to Sports Tak, Kapil Dev said, “We can talk about Sachin, because he was also young when he played. Then the other aspect is that we think that it will not happen too soon. But, if you look at the history, you will realize. Sometimes don’t be late. I think if he is ready, then don’t look at his age, count his ability and if his ability makes you think that he can play, then definitely play him.”
