24 hours of rain caused havoc in Mumbai, high tide alert; normal life disrupted
Mumbai. Heavy rain has once again hit metropolitan Mumbai. In the last 24 hours till 8 am on Friday, heavy rainfall of more than 100 millimeters (mm) has been recorded in many areas of Mumbai. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted ‘heavy to very heavy’ rain during the day. Along with this, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), while sharing the latest information, has said that there is a possibility of strong winds blowing at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour in the metropolis.
Local trains late, bus service normal
According to information received from railway officials, suburban local train services on Central, Western and Harbor lines continued to run normally in the morning, although daily commuters complained about local trains running late from their scheduled time. On the other hand, bus services of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), considered the second lifeline of the city, remained completely normal and no major disruption in traffic was reported.

The Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also issued a timetable and alert regarding high waves in the sea.
Friday 2:18 pm: High tide 4.28 meters
Friday 8:22 pm: 1.74 meter high tide
2:09 pm Friday: 3.68 meter high tide
Saturday 7:44 am: Waves up to 1.05 meters high likely
Water filled in low lying areas, relief received in the morning
Officials said that torrential rains had started in Mumbai around midnight on Thursday. Due to this, a situation of waterlogging was created in low-lying areas like Dadar, Andheri, Goregaon and Parel, although by morning the water had receded from these places. The pace of rain had reduced slightly in the early hours of the morning, but after 8 am the rain once again intensified in some parts of Mumbai.
