Bullet fired outside Kashi Vishwanath temple, accident happened with PAC jawan’s carbine; 3 people injured

Varanasi, 4th July. A major accident took place outside the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning. A PAC (Provincial Armed Forces) soldier on duty near Gate No. 4B of the temple was suddenly fired from the carbine. The bullet hit the ground, but its shrapnel hit three people present nearby, injuring them.

After the incident, there was an atmosphere of chaos for some time outside the temple premises. However, the police and temple administration immediately controlled the situation and took the injured to the hospital for treatment.

Three people were hit by bullets

The injured have been identified as Nikki Gupta, Ram Babu and Vikas Yadav. All three were present around the flower-garland shops outside the temple. They were injured by bullet fragments, but it was a matter of relief that no one was seriously injured.

DCP told how the accident happened

Varanasi DCP Gaurav Banswal said that the PAC jawan on duty had lost his carbine, due to which two rounds were fired from it. Both the bullets hit the ground, but their shrapnel hit three people present nearby.

He said that one person had shrapnel in his hand, another in his waist and the third in his leg. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital and their condition is stable.

Eyewitnesses told the entire incident

Injured Vikas Yadav told that he was present at a flower-garland shop, when suddenly a bullet was fired from the PAC jawan’s carbine. According to him, the soldier was standing holding the carbine backwards. After the incident, other policemen reached the spot and the jawan was removed from there. He also claimed that the policemen also collected bullet pellets from the incident site.

Vikas Yadav said that there were shrapnel wounds in his hands and waist, while a total of three people were injured in this incident.

The injured Ram Babu told that at around 7 in the morning suddenly a bullet was fired from a carbine, the shrapnel of which hit his hands and legs.

The third injured Vicky told that the incident happened near Gate No. 4 of the temple. After the firing, the security personnel immediately evacuated the spot and removed the concerned soldier from there.

Police engaged in investigation

At present the police is investigating the entire matter. In the initial investigation, it is being considered as a case of accidental firing from a carbine. Officials say that all the circumstances of the incident are being investigated and necessary action will be taken.
