Jodhpur gets new terminal building worth Rs 480 crore, PM Modi shows green signal; Know its cost, capacity and its special features
Jodhpur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport during his visit to Rajasthan. On this special occasion, PM Modi dedicated this new terminal to the public by pressing the button of the remote and also launched the next phase of ‘UDAN’ scheme to strengthen air connectivity in the country.
Cost of Rs 480 crore and modern facilities
This new terminal building of Jodhpur Airport is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, designed keeping in mind the passenger convenience and comfortable travel, this grand project has been developed at a total cost of Rs 480 crore, spread over a vast area of more than 23,000 square meters. This new terminal building is fully capable of handling 20 lakh passengers per year.
Unique confluence of Rajasthani heritage and modernity
The biggest feature of this new terminal is its architecture, which is inspired by the royal and traditional cultural heritage of Rajasthan, the historical elements like traditional arches and windows of Rajasthan have been beautifully combined with the contemporary design in the construction of the terminal.
Targeting eco-friendly ‘five-star’ rating
Sustainable development has been given priority in the design of the terminal. With the use of energy-efficient systems, water conservation measures and green building practices, it aims to achieve a ‘5-Star GRIHA’ rating.
New momentum to development, employment and ‘Udaan’ scheme
The opening of this new terminal at Jodhpur Airport will not only give wings to tourism in Western Rajasthan but is also expected to give a big boost to local trade and employment generation.
₹28,840 crore for “Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik” vision
On this occasion, the Prime Minister launched the revised ‘UDAN’ scheme, which focuses specifically on regional connectivity. A huge budget of Rs 28,840 crore has been allocated under this strategic initiative. Its main objective is to accelerate aviation-based development in the next 10 years, so that a comprehensive and sustainable air connectivity can be established between small and big cities across the country. According to officials, this will prove to be a revolutionary step in the scenario of Indian civil aviation. During this inauguration ceremony, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and many other dignitaries and senior leaders were also present.
