After this the Prime Minister formally inaugurated the terminal.
New terminal completed at a cost of Rs 480 crore
Developed at a cost of about Rs 480 crore, this state-of-the-art terminal building is spread over an area of more than 23,000 square meters. It has a capacity to handle approximately 20 lakh passengers per year. The terminal has been provided with modern passenger amenities, providing passengers with a more convenient and better travel experience.
Unique confluence of Rajasthani heritage and modern technology
The design of the new terminal is inspired by the traditional architecture of Rajasthan. In this, arches, windows and glimpses of local architecture have been combined with modern construction style. Apart from this, energy efficient technology, water conservation system and green building construction standards have been adopted in the building. The project aims to achieve 5-star GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) certification.
Revised ‘Udaan’ scheme gets new momentum
Prime Minister Modi also launched the revised UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme on the occasion. The government has made a provision of Rs 28,840 crore for this scheme. Its objective is to expand the country’s aviation sector and strengthen air connectivity to remote areas in the next ten years.
100 new airports and 200 modern helipads will be developed
Under the scheme, special emphasis will be laid on development of 100 new airports using existing unused airstrips across the country. A budget of more than Rs 12,000 crore has been set for this. Additionally, assistance of over Rs 2,500 crore will be provided to support initial operations and maintenance (O&M) of regional airports. The government also plans to develop 200 modern helipads to ensure better air connectivity in remote and inaccessible areas. The government believes that the new terminal and revised flight plan of Jodhpur Airport will give a new direction to the country’s civil aviation sector and will also give a significant boost to regional economic development and tourism.
