Government land will be monitored through drones in Delhi, ‘zero tolerance’ policy will be implemented: Strict instructions from LG

Now more strict action will be taken against encroachment and illegal construction on government land in the capital. Lieutenant Governor (LG) T.S. Sandhu has given clear instructions to DDA to adopt ‘zero tolerance’ policy in cases of encroachment anywhere in Delhi. As per the instructions, modern technologies will be used for timely detection and prevention of illegal encroachments and construction. This includes drone surveys, geo-tagging and real-time monitoring systems, so that any illegal activity can be immediately detected and action taken.

Instructions for strict action against illegal encroachments

Lieutenant Governor (LG) T.S. at the advisory council meeting of DDA. Sandhu took a strong stance against encroachment on public land and directed for immediate and effective action. The meeting was held on Friday to review Sustainable Urban Development. In this, various issues related to urban development of Delhi were discussed. MP Ramveer Singh Bidhuri, Sudhanshu Trivedi, senior officials of DCRM, DJB, Electricity Department, various departments of Delhi Government and DDA were present in the meeting.

241.51 acres of government land encroachment free

According to the information given to the Lieutenant Governor, 241.51 acres of government land has been freed from encroachment since April 2025. Along with this, illegal constructions done on 235.96 acres of land in the development areas have also been removed. Officials said that this action is continuing and special monitoring system is being strengthened to control encroachment. 14 flying squads have been formed under the Land Management Department of DDA, which are carrying out regular monitoring along with field survey teams. The objective of these teams is to identify illegal encroachments in time and ensure immediate action.

Drone survey intensified in Delhi

With the joint efforts of DDA, MCD and Survey of India, a comprehensive drone survey of entire Delhi is being conducted. According to officials, a total area of ​​1,370 square kilometers has been identified for this survey, out of which survey of 1,122 square kilometers has been completed so far. Along with this, drone survey of O-zone area has also been completed, which is considered an important achievement. DDA has also shared information about its Vacant Land Management System. Under this, geo-tagging of more than 3,700 plots spread over an area of ​​21,773 acres is being done. Photo based monitoring of these plots is also being done from time to time, so that any kind of illegal occupation or construction can be detected immediately.

Guilty architects will be blacklisted

Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu has directed that guilty architects found involved in such cases should be removed from the panel and blacklisted. He said that responsibility for illegal and unsafe construction should be fixed, so that such negligence can be stopped in future. Along with this, instructions have been given to immediately send information about unsafe buildings to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The LG also said that flying squads and quick response teams should be kept continuously active for prompt action on encroachment and illegal construction, so as to ensure that action is taken on the spot.
