Vaibhav Suryavanshi flopped in his debut match: He was out due to this mistake, even the fans were surprised!

New Delhi: Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s dream of making his international debut for India at the age of 15 finally came true. This young batsman from Bihar got his first cap in the second T20 match played against England at Old Trafford, Manchester. As soon as he got the cap, he also took the record of being the youngest Indian debutant. But the debut match did not last as long as his expectations.

Suryavanshi stumped out

Vaibhav looked full of confidence as soon as he came to the crease. He made his intentions clear from the very first ball. Instead of panicking, this left-handed batsman attacked the English bowlers. During the innings, he also hit two tremendous sixes, due to which the fans sitting in the stadium were forced to applaud.

His style was exactly the same as seen in IPL and domestic cricket – fearless and aggressive. But the pressure of international cricket is different. In an effort to increase the score, Vaibhav got stumped after scoring 14 runs in just 10 balls. One small mistake and the chance for a memorable debut was lost.

The score is small, but the intentions are big

If you look at the scorecard, 14 runs don’t look like anything special. But the way Vaibhav played, it showed why he was selected in the team. Instead of playing cautiously, he relied on his natural game.

Playing without any fear against a world class bowling attack like England, and that too at the age of 15, is a big thing in itself. His two sixes clearly showed that he has the ability to change the course of the match. The team management and fans must have been disappointed that the innings ended early, but even in this short innings his talent was visible.

Big lesson learned from debut

International debut is not easy for any young player. On top of that, against a team like England, and that too in front of the home fans. It is not easy to play with the pressure of wearing the national jersey and the burden of millions of expectations. For Vaibhav, these 10 balls were like a classroom.

He learned what each ball was worth at the international level. He will regret getting out on 14 runs, but this experience will be useful to him in future. It is normal to falter a bit on debut after stormy innings in IPL. From Sachin to Kohli, everyone’s first matches were not memorable.

Vaibhav’s age is still with him. Today’s small innings can become the foundation of tomorrow’s big century. India has got a new finisher, he just needs to hone him.
