Noah Wyle blames ‘ER’ for missed Blockbuster movie roles
Noah Wyle became one of TV’s most recognizable faces thanks to IS.
Although it seems like the show’s demanding schedule forced him to miss out on several blockbuster films.
The 55-year-old actor recently opened up on the Still Here Hollywood podcast about the “tons” of opportunities he had to pass on due to his commitment to the long-running series.
“Happens all the time,” he said, talking to the host Steve Kmetko.
“We talked about a couple of them, actually. Good Night, (and) Good Luck; George (Clooney) offered me a part in that. I couldn’t get out of ER to do it,” he revealed.
After joining ER in 1994, he spent 11 seasons playing Dr. John Carter on the beloved medical drama.

Despite his success, Noah’s central role on the series meant he had little opportunity to pursue other projects, even when offers from top Hollywood filmmakers came his way.
“I was offered part of Private Ryan, Saving Private Ryan. Couldn’t get out of ER to do it,” The Pitt actor admitted.
He shared that he was offered to take on the role of Corporal Upham but was later given to Jeremy Davies.
Even so, Noah said he has no regrets about the way his career unfolded.
