AMC’s Most Underrated TV Show Releases New Season on Netflix Today

A brand new season of a highly underrated AMC thriller drops on Netflix today. Widely considered the channel’s most underrated show for being overlooked by awards circuits and mainstream audiences, the series has consistently received 100% scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

What underrated AMC show is releasing a new season on Netflix today?

Season 4 of AMC’s Dark Winds arrives on Netflix today. Created by Graham Roland (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), it is based on the Leaphorn & Chee novel series by Tony Hillerman. Executive produced by Robert Redford (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) and George R.R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire), the psychological thriller follows Leaphorn, Chee, and Manuelito of the Navajo Tribal Police in the 1970s as they go about solving mysteries on their reservation, plagued by increasingly violent crimes. The series debuted in June 2022 and has since spawned 3 more seasons. A fifth season has been commissioned. It is expected to premiere in 2027.

The series stars Zach McClarnon (Longmire) as Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn, Kiowa Gordon (The Twilight Saga) as Deputy Jim Chee, and Jessica Matten (Frontier) as Sergeant Bernadette Manuelito. Dark Winds Season 4 will see Franka Potente (Run Lola Run) as Irene Vaggan, Isabel DeRoy-Olson (Fancy Dance) as Billie Tsosie, Chaske Spencer (The Twilight Saga) as Sonny, Luke Barnett (The Crossing Over Express) as FBI Special Agent Toby Shaw, and Titus Welliver (Bosch) as Dominic McNair. Season 4 will also see A. Martinez (Longmire) returns as Scarborough Police Department Acting Chief Gordo Sena.

The official synopsis of Dark Winds Season 4 reads, “Consisting of eight hour-long episodes, Season 4 focuses on the search for a missing Navajo girl, which takes Leaphorn, Chee, and Manuelito from the safety of the Navajo Nation to the gritty terrain of 1970s Los Angeles in a race against the clock to save her from an obsessive killer with ties to organized crime.”
