UAE Rail Update: Now it becomes easy to go from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah, first passenger train starts, complete information about tickets and timings
Now traveling in UAE is going to become even easier. Etihad Rail has launched its first passenger train service, which will reduce the distance between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. This service will prove to be very helpful not only for tourists but also for expatriates traveling for work.

The service launched on 30 June 2026, connecting Abu Dhabi’s Mohamed bin Zayed City station to Fujairah’s Al Hilal City. The speed of the train on this route remains up to 200 km per hour, due to which the entire journey is completed in just 105 minutes i.e. about 1 hour 45 minutes. 400 passengers can travel simultaneously in a train.

Train tickets can be booked through Etihad Rail’s mobile app and website. 50 percent discount on fare is being given in the initial period.
The network will increase in the coming time
The government has planned to gradually spread this rail network across the country. New stations will be launched on these dates in the coming days:
- 30 September 2026: Stations of Dubai (Jumeirah Golf Estates) and Sharjah (Al Dhaid) will open.
- 30 December 2026: Operations will begin in Al Dhafra area.
- 30 March 2027: The initial network will be completed with the opening of Sharjah University City Station.
Once fully operational, this network will connect 11 cities and regions from Al Sila to Fujairah. For the convenience of passengers, free Wi-Fi, charging ports at every seat and ample space for luggage have been provided in the trains.
What do the government and officials say
Minister Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan described this project as a strategic investment for the future of UAE. He said that this will increase connectivity between the emirates and provide people with a sustainable travel option. Meanwhile, Saeed Abdullah Al Samahi, Director of Fujairah Tourism and Antiquities Department, said that this rail service will increase the number of tourists coming to Fujairah, which will benefit hotels and local business.
This project is expected to generate economic and social benefits of about 91 billion dirhams ($24.7 billion) in the coming 50 years. This will reduce traffic on the roads and pollution will also reduce.
