‘As much salary, as much work’! Jane Zee is teaching the corporate world the lesson of ‘work-life balance’!

The rigid formalities of the corporate world, the ‘yes sir, yes sir’ culture and the age-old norms of working hard six days a week… all these stereotypes are now being shattered. Because, now ‘Gen Z’ i.e. the generation born between 1997 and 2012 is stepping into the corporate world and they are working on their own terms. This new generation has started to completely reboot the old and rigid rules of corporate.

Quiet Quittingand work-life balance

For earlier generations, working longer hours was considered a sign of progress. But for Jane Z, ‘mental health’ and ‘work-life balance’ are most important. Equal pay, equal work and not picking up a single work phone after office hours, i.e. ‘Quiet Quitting’ is the new fad of this generation. They consider work only a part of life, not the whole life.

Flexibility and Work from anywhere

Gen Z has reinforced the culture of being able to work from any corner of the world with a laptop. They tend to focus on result-oriented work, rather than sitting still for nine-to-five. These young people are directly rejecting companies that do not offer ‘hybrid’ or ‘remote working’ options.

Transparency and flatCulture

Jane Z doesn’t agree with the old dictatorship between ‘boss’ and ’employee’. They want workplace transparency, equal treatment and a ‘flat hierarchy’ where they can speak directly to superiors. If they are not respected at the workplace, they do not hesitate to change jobs immediately.

Sustainability and Ethics

Jane Zee doesn’t just work for a paycheck. She chooses a job based on whether the company is environmentally friendly and what are its social values.

In short, Gen Z is making the corporate world more humanized, flexible and practical. This generation is not a workaholic, it believes in smart work. If companies want to retain this intelligent and tech-savvy generation, they will have to leave behind their old stereotypes and transform themselves!
