Politics intensifies on Ram temple offering controversy, BJP on target of opposition before 2027 elections

Knews Desk- The case of alleged theft and financial irregularities related to the offerings of devotees in the Ram temple of Ayodhya is no longer limited to investigation only. This controversy has become a major issue in the politics of Uttar Pradesh and has become the center of allegations and counter-allegations between political parties before the 2027 assembly elections. The opposition is continuously attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government on this issue, while the BJP is calling it a political conspiracy and assuring strict action against the culprits.

Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav first raised the issue publicly and sought answers from the government through social media. After this, Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) also started cornering the government on this issue. The opposition alleges that both the government and the temple management have failed to ensure the security and transparent arrangement of the money offered by devotees across the country in the name of Lord Ram. The opposition says that this is not just a matter of financial irregularities, but a serious matter related to the faith of crores of devotees.

Ram Mandir has been an important part of BJP’s political and ideological identity. Along with Ayodhya, the party has also presented Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Mahakumbh and religious tourism as key points of its development and cultural agenda. In such a situation, any controversy related to Ram temple can directly impact the image of BJP.

According to the information, devotees from across the country had contributed approximately Rs 3,500 crore for the construction of Ram Temple. After the inauguration of the temple, separate arrangements have been made for the daily offerings. However, allegations of alleged theft and financial irregularities that have emerged in recent times have raised many questions regarding the management, security and transparency of the offerings. This is the reason why this matter has now become a subject of administrative investigation as well as political debate.

According to sources, concern is being expressed regarding this issue even within the BJP organization. Party leaders believe that if there is no impartial and timely investigation into the allegations, its political impact may be visible till the upcoming assembly elections. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is trying to give a new direction to the political discourse by placing special emphasis on Hindutva, cultural heritage and religious issues in his recent speeches.

Meanwhile, this issue also came up prominently during important meetings of BJP held in Lucknow. A clear message was given by the party leadership that if any person is found guilty in the investigation, strict action will be taken against him. BJP leaders say that this matter is related to the sentiments of crores of Sanatan devotees and the culprits will not be spared at any cost.

On the other hand, Akhilesh Yadav is continuously targeting the government. They allege that the government has failed to ensure the safety of the faith and offerings of the devotees. He also said that if Samajwadi Party government is formed in future, Ayodhya will be developed according to the concept of “Siyaram Dham”. At the same time, Congress has also intensified its campaign in this matter and has prepared to send a delegation to Ayodhya, while BSP chief Mayawati, while demanding an impartial investigation, has described the entire matter as serious and worrying.
