IND vs ENG: Team India was winning in the second T20, how did the tables turn in one over?
The second match of the 5-match T20 series between India and England was played on Saturday (July 4) at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. In this match, host England won by 4 wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the series. Batting first, Team India scored 190 runs losing 7 wickets. England achieved the target easily by losing 6 wickets in 19 overs.
Left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh had dismissed both England’s openers for ducks in the very first over, but captain Harry Brook brought them back by scoring 39 runs in 15 balls. After this, Jacob Bethel took charge and stood till the end to take the English team to the target. Due to the tight bowling of Akshar Patel and the blows of Arshdeep and Varun Chakraborty in the middle overs, the England team was seen on the back foot but the story changed completely in the 17th over.

Last match by hand in Ravi Bishnoi’s over
While chasing the target, the England team could score only 142 runs after losing 5 wickets in 16 overs. He had to score 49 runs in 24 balls to win. Bethel scored 42 runs in 36 balls, while Sam Curran was at the crease after scoring 5 runs in 2 balls. The match was in India’s control but Ravi Bishnoi gave away 29 runs in the 17th over, due to which the match got lost. Leg spinner Bishnoi’s first ball was a backfoot no-ball and then Bethel hit a six on a free hit.
Bishnoi’s second legal ball also turned out to be a backfoot no-ball and Bethel took advantage of another free hit and completed his fifty in 39 balls by hitting a six over long-on. Bethel did not stop here and hit a four on the fourth ball and then a six on the fifth ball, taking India away from the match. Before this over, the required run rate for England was 12.25, which came down to just 6.66.

After this, Bethel, along with Curran and Joffra Archer, collected the remaining 20 runs in just 2 overs and gave England the lead in the series. The first match was washed out due to rain. Bethel returned unbeaten after scoring 76 runs in 46 balls, which included 5 fours and as many sixes. Bishnoi spent 60 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
