Controversy over gold studded Ramcharitmanas in Ayodhya Ram temple, former Home Secretary said – not even receipt of donation was received

New Delhi, 5 July. Amidst the ongoing controversy regarding offerings in Ayodhya Ram temple, a new controversy has come to light regarding the gold studded Ramcharitmanas weighing 147 kg. Former Home Secretary S., who donated this priceless book to the Ram Mandir Trust. Laxminarayan has claimed that after donating, he has not received any receipt or official acknowledgment till date. He also said that now he does not even know where this Ramcharitmanas is at present.

‘Ramcharitmanas was prepared by melting the jewelery of mother and wife’

While talking to a news channel, S. Lakshminarayan told that on April 8, 2024, he had presented Ramcharitmanas with gold pages to the Ram Mandir Trust. According to him, he had used gold from his mother and wife’s jewelery to prepare this book. He alleged that despite donating, he was neither given any receipt nor received any official acknowledgment of acceptance of the donation.

‘No reply received even after a year’

Lakshminarayan said he had also met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat in this matter. He was assured of a solution, but even after a year had passed, no concrete action was taken. He also claimed that when he shared his concerns with Avnish Awasthi, then advisor to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, the reply he received was, “If you have donated, consider it a donation.”

Questions raised on Champat Rai also

The former home secretary claimed that when he raised the issue with Champat Rai, general secretary of the Ram Mandir Trust, he was reportedly told that “whatever I want will happen in the temple.” Lakshminarayan said that the temple is not the center of faith of any individual but of crores of devotees and its construction has become possible after a struggle of 500 years.

First appeared, then suddenly removed

According to Lakshminarayan, for some time after the donation, the gold-studded Ramcharitamanas was displayed in the temple premises, where devotees visited it and regular pujas were also performed. Later it was suddenly removed. He says that now there is no information about its current condition, due to which he is worried.
