Monsoon mega-alert: fierce attack of clouds in Mumbai, warning of heavy rain in many states including Delhi-Uttarakhand


The pace of south-west monsoon has now become very aggressive across the country. Clouds have camped from Delhi-NCR to Mumbai. India Meteorological Department (IMD), while releasing the latest weather conditions, has issued a red alert predicting heavy to extremely heavy rains in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar. At the same time, light to moderate rain with strong winds at a speed of 30-40 km/hour is expected in the plains of North India today. According to meteorologists, this speed of monsoon can cause more devastation in many parts of the country in the coming days. Sky disaster in Mayanagar Mumbai, fire brigade took charge. The torrential rains that have been going on for the last 4-5 days in Mumbai and its surrounding areas like Vasai-Virar have completely disrupted life. According to Fire Officer Vishal Shirke, 14-15 people trapped in waterlogging have been rescued safely by conducting a rescue operation since late Saturday night. There are reports of trees falling and water entering houses at many places. The administration has given strict instructions to Mumbaikars not to leave their homes without any essential work. Chardham and Amarnath Yatra are affected by weather, there is danger of landslides. Monsoon is raining like a disaster in the hilly states. Yellow alert continues in Himachal Pradesh for today, while orange alert will remain in place on July 6 and 7 with warning of heavy rain and flash floods. In Uttarakhand, there is a possibility of landslides and closure of roads due to continuous rains on the Chardham Yatra route of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. On the other hand, there has been a warning of increase in slippage on the Amarnath Yatra route in Jammu and Kashmir. The administration has appealed to the devotees to keep grippy shoes and raincoat with them. Movement of clouds in Delhi-NCR, will provide relief from humidity. Today it will be generally cloudy in the country’s capital Delhi and NCR areas. There is a possibility of light to moderate showers with thunderstorms throughout the day, due to which the temperature will drop. According to the Meteorological Department, today the maximum temperature of Delhi is expected to be between 33 to 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be between 27 to 29 degrees Celsius, which will provide great relief to the people of Delhi from the scorching humidity.
