Thailand named world’s second best country for medical tourism

The ranking assesses 50 destinations based on key factors influencing medical travelers, including quality of healthcare, specialist expertise, advanced medical technology, treatment costs, waiting times, and post-treatment recovery options.

According to Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the country’s health tourism sector comprises 92,813 operators, generating an estimated THB670 billion (US$20.65 billion) in revenue last year, The Star newspaper reported.

This includes 28,203 direct health service businesses, valued at THB220 billion, and 64,610 related businesses worth THB450 billion.

India ranked third, followed by Mexico and South Korea.

The rest of top 10 were Malaysia, Costa Rica, Singapore, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Colombia.
