Terrorists under siege in Jammu and Kashmir! 2 LeT terrorists trapped in Shopian garden, Army tightened its grip from all sides

New Delhi: A major anti-terrorism operation by security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir continued for the second day. The Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have further strengthened the cordon of the area. According to officials, two terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) are hiding in a dense garden and all possible routes have been sealed to ensure that they do not get any chance to get out.

Terrorists were found during surveillance

According to the information, both the terrorists have been identified as Zakir and Latif, who are said to be residents of Kulgam district of South Kashmir. Security agencies say that Zakir has been associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba since 2024, while Latif had supported this organization last year.

On Friday, security forces had launched a search operation in the area after suspicious activities were seen in surveillance cameras. Meanwhile, the terrorists opened fire on the army team, after which firing started from both sides.

Army tightens siege

Security forces have surrounded the entire garden and the surrounding area from all sides. The army’s special counter-insurgency unit ‘Victor Force’ has also been deployed in the operation. Lighting arrangements have been made in the entire area at night so that terrorists do not get the opportunity to hide due to dense trees and bushes. Officials said that earlier there were reports that both the terrorists have been killed, but later it was clarified that they are still surrounded and the search for them is going on.

Search operation conducted in many villages

By Saturday evening, the security forces had completed the search operation in four nearby villages. At present, there is high alert in the entire area and additional soldiers have been deployed so that the terrorists cannot escape from any direction.

Important campaign for security agencies

According to security agencies, Shopian area has long been considered an important route for terrorists. In such a situation, the arrest or neutralization of these two suspected terrorists is being considered important from the security point of view.

It is being told that Zakir is wanted in many terrorist cases and the court of National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also issued notice against him earlier. At present, security forces are continuously conducting operations and strict surveillance is being maintained in the entire area.
