Wife killed with a pan over minor dispute, husband went to the police station and confessed to the crime.
A domestic dispute left a family devastated in south-west Delhi’s Najafgarh area. Following a minor altercation, a 48-year-old man killed his wife by hitting her on the head with a pan. After the incident, the accused stayed with his wife’s dead body in the house the whole night and on Sunday morning he himself reached the police station and confessed to his crime.
According to the police, the accused is a resident of Gopal Nagar. On Sunday morning he reached Baba Haridas Nagar police station and told the duty officer that he had murdered his 43-year-old wife in the night. As soon as the information was received, the police team reached her house, where the woman’s body was recovered. After this, the forensic team and crime branch collected evidence from the spot.

During initial interrogation, the accused told the police that he had an argument with his wife over some issue on Saturday night. Within no time the fight between the two escalated. In anger, he picked up the pan kept in the kitchen and hit his wife several times on the head. The woman died on the spot due to serious head injury. According to the police, this incident happened late at night between 1 and 2 am. At that time both the sons of the couple had gone to their grandmother’s house, hence they could not witness this incident.
The accused told the police that he was undergoing treatment for a mental illness called schizophrenia for the last two-three years. He claimed that he is being treated at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Police are now examining his medical records and also ascertaining whether he was taking medicines regularly at the time of the incident. Investigation also revealed that the accused earlier worked in an IT company but was unemployed for the last two months. According to the police, due to financial constraints and mental stress, there were frequent disputes in the house.

The accused confessed to the murder
During interrogation it was revealed that after the incident the accused stayed in the house the whole night. At around eight o’clock on Sunday morning, he directly reached Baba Haridas Nagar police station and informed the police about the entire incident. Police reached the spot and took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. The woman worked in a private company. The couple was married in the year 2005 and have two sons. Police have registered a case of murder against the accused under section 103 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). At present the investigation of the case is going on and all aspects are being investigated.
