Severe monsoon alert in more than 24 states of the country, heavy rain will occur today; Tornado will come at a speed of 60KM, fishermen will be prevented from going into the sea!


The south-west monsoon has engulfed the entire country. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is currently passing through Jamnagar, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jhunjhunu, Hisar and Bathinda. Within the next three days, monsoon will completely cover the remaining areas of Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Due to this very strong monsoon system, today i.e. on July 6, 2026, a mega-alert of torrential rains, lightning and dangerous thunderstorms has been issued in more than 24 states of the country. Warning of ‘extremely heavy rain’ in these 4 areas including Chhattisgarh and Konkan-Goa. According to the latest bulletin of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of catastrophic rain with severe thunder in four major areas of the country, for which the strictest alert has been issued. These areas include: Chhattisgarh, Gujarat area adjacent to Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, Central Maharashtra, ‘Orange Alert’ in MP, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, heavy showers in UP-Delhi. IMD has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ predicting heavy to very heavy rains in many states. These include Madhya Pradesh, Eastern Rajasthan, Uttarakhand adjacent to Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Saurashtra-Kutch, Kerala, Mahe and Karnataka. Apart from this, ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for a large part of North India including the plains, under which there will be heavy monsoon showers in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh (especially Eastern UP), Bihar, Jharkhand, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir, Vidarbha, Marathwada and West Bengal today. There will also be heavy rains in the northeastern states (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal), although in Assam-Meghalaya, the humid and sticky heat between the rains will also trouble. Danger of tornado with a speed of 60 km/hour in 4 states, lightning will strike. The Meteorological Department has warned that today destructive thunderstorms (tornadoes) can move at a speed of 50 to 60 km per hour at different places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, coastal and northern interior Karnataka and Telangana. Along with this, there is a possibility of lightning along with strong dusty winds of 40 to 50 km per hour in Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Only a special alert of lightning has been issued in entire Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand, hence people have been advised to stay in safe places during thunderstorms. There will be scary waves in the sea, red warning issued for fishermen. Due to cyclonic circulation and strong monsoon winds, there will be huge turmoil on both the coasts of India. There will be storm winds at a speed of 40-50 km per hour in the Arabian Sea adjacent to the coasts of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa and Kerala, which can reach up to 60 km per hour. At the same time, extremely dangerous winds with a speed of 45-55 km per hour (gusts up to 65 km per hour) are expected on the coasts of Bay of Bengal, Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh. In view of the terrible condition of the sea, the Meteorological Department has given strict instructions to the fishermen not to go into the deep sea till further orders.
