modern and muscular
The new 9th-gen Toyota Hilux is going to be launched in India on 28 July 2026. With this new update, there will be major changes in the exterior and interior of the pickup truck, which will make it more modern and muscular than before.

Design?
Many important changes have been made in the exterior design of the new Hilux. According to various media reports, the old hexagonal grille will no longer be visible in its front, but will be replaced by a body-coloured honeycomb pattern grille. Along with this, it will get slim LED headlights, rough-and-tough looking bumper and a strong skid plate.

LED tail-lamps
The side profile is largely similar to the old model, but it gets new alloy wheels and square wheel arches. At the rear, you will find a new bumper, revised LED tail-lamps and ‘TOYOTA’ written in place of the Toyota logo. However, it will be based on the same strong IMV body-on-frame platform as before.

loaded interior
As soon as you step inside the cabin, you will get a completely new and modern environment. Autocar India reports that the dashboard has been redesigned, which includes a new steering wheel and an updated center console. The biggest attraction is the two 12.3-inch screens available in it (for infotainment and instrument cluster).

The good thing is that Toyota has retained the physical buttons for essential features. For safety and comfort, it is expected to get features like 360-degree camera, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), powered and ventilated front seats.

engine
Talking about performance, the new Hilux will continue to get the existing 2.8-litre diesel engine, which generates 204hp power and 500Nm torque.

6-speed manual
It will have the option of 4WD (four-wheel drive) with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. It is being speculated that like the Fortuner, this engine can also be connected to a 48V mild-hybrid system.

Battery
However, there is still suspense over the arrival of its electric version (Hilux EV) with 59.2kWh battery in India.
