Mirzapur: The first light rain of monsoon in Pahari Development Block has exposed the administrative promptness of the area and the big promises made by the public representatives. Padri-Dadhiram main road is currently shedding tears over its plight. In the very first shower, this road has been completely submerged, making even walking on it difficult.

Pit or hell? Pedestrians are bleeding
The deep potholes formed at various places on the road are now filled to the brim with water. Due to this, it has become impossible for cyclists and motorcycle riders to estimate the depth of potholes. The result is that every day people are falling prey to these invisible potholes and getting injured. The safety of the pedestrians is completely dependent on Ram.
Accusation of stopping work for electoral benefits

There is huge anger among the local villagers regarding this plight. The villagers directly allege that the ruling party is postponing the construction of this road only to gain electoral benefits. people say:
“When the assembly elections will come very close, the construction work of this road will be started hastily to garner votes. No one is concerned with the problems of the public.”

Road becomes arena of politics, opposition also silent
The inaction of the opposition parties is also clearly exposed in the hill development block. It is alleged that this road is made an issue only at the time of elections and a means is found to instigate the public against the ruling party. Overall, this road, caught in the entanglement of cheap and selfish politics, is today mocking the claims of development. At the same time, tired villagers have also accepted this damaged road as their bad luck and now they are waiting for the next assembly elections.

MLA’s ‘measurement’ and ‘photoshoot’ also remained ineffective
A few days ago, Majhwa MLA Suchishmita Maurya along with Public Works Department (PWD) officials had inspected this road with great fanfare. The road was measured, photographs were taken and a promise was made to the market residents that “the construction work of the road will be completed at any cost before the rains start.”

But today the ground reality is that let alone the completion of the construction work, there is no possibility of the work starting even remotely.
