Police busy preparing for “Nashe se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0” campaign starting from July 15 in Madhya Pradesh
In order to give a comprehensive and effective form to the statewide public awareness campaign “Nashe Se Doori Hai Zuri 2.0” to be conducted by Madhya Pradesh Police from 15 to 30 July, a high level inter-departmental coordination meeting was organized at the Police Headquarters under the chairmanship of Director General of Police Kailash Makwana. In the meeting, Additional Director General of Police, Community Policing D.P. Gupta, Additional Director General of Police, Narcotics. Srinivas Verma, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Department (Additional Director General of Police), Anshuman Yadav, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Community Policing) Shri Vineet Kapoor, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Narcotics) Kumar Prateek, Staff Officer to DGP Shri Malay Jain and other senior officers participated.
Meeting with the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities
In the meeting, Principal Secretary of Social Justice and Disability Empowerment Department, Sonali Ponkshe Wayangankar, Member Secretary of State Mental Health and Wellness Task Force, Dr. Usha K. Nair, Commissioner of Technical Education Department Shri Awadhesh Sharma, Assistant Secretary of Labor Department Shri Shivendra Garjan, Senior Joint Director of Health Department Dr. Nitin Patel, Deputy Director of National Health Mission Dr. Rahul Singh Bhadauria and senior officials of Social Justice, School Education, Higher Education, Technical Education, Health and Family Welfare, Sports and Youth Welfare, Urban Administration, Panchayat and Rural Development, Public Relations and Labor Department participated.
DGP took meeting
Addressing the meeting, Director General of Police Kailash Makwana said that “Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0” is not just a campaign of the police department, but a widespread people’s movement to make the society drug-free. He said that in the DGP/IGP conference held in Raipur in November 2025, special emphasis was laid by the Honorable Prime Minister and the Honorable Union Home Minister on decisive action against narcotics, public awareness, effective use of social media and spreading inspiring stories of people who have given up drug addiction to the society. Taking forward the same approach, Madhya Pradesh Police will conduct the campaign in a more comprehensive manner this year.
CM will inaugurate
The campaign will be launched by the Chief Minister on July 15 at Rabindra Bhawan, Bhopal. During the campaign, public awareness programs will be organized in schools, colleges, hostels, sports institutes, gram panchayats, urban areas, industrial units and public places across the state. He said that the campaign conducted last year had received wide appreciation at the national level and this year it would be made more effective with the participation of all departments.
There will be campaigns everywhere
Additional Director General of Police (Narcotics) D. Srinivas Verma, while presenting the detailed action plan of the campaign, said that this year the campaign will be conducted under the Whole-of-Government Approach by connecting various departments on a common platform. He informed that a detailed calendar of activities has been prepared for the 15-day campaign. Under this, anti-drug pledge, rallies, human chains, street plays, screening of short films, painting, poster, essay and slogan competitions, awareness programs in hostels and slums, sports activities and social media based mass messages will be conducted. Besides, effective enforcement action will also be ensured within 500 meters of educational institutions.
Youth, master trainers will all join the campaign
In the meeting, various departments presented their respective action plans to make the campaign successful and assured full cooperation. The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities suggested connecting about 12 thousand volunteers and more than 500 master trainers trained under the National Action Plan (NAPDDR) of the Government of India to the campaign, conducting special awareness programs among hostels and youth and uploading all the activities on the “Drug Free India Campaign” portal and mobile app. The department also informed about linking social and spiritual organizations like Art of Living, Prajapita Brahma Kumari and Gayatri Parivar with the campaign.
The campaign will have an impact in every institution including schools and colleges.
The Health and Family Welfare Department presented an action plan to run awareness campaigns up to the village level through its wide field network, Asha and Health workers, Health and Wellness Centers and de-addiction clinics. The department also laid emphasis on spreading the inspiring experiences of people who have given up drug addiction to the society. The Department of Technical Education and Higher Education shared the action plan to engage lakhs of students in engineering colleges, polytechnic institutes, ITIs, universities and colleges through drug-free campus campaign, mental health awareness, prevention of peer pressure, short film screenings, lectures, street plays and other activities.
Sports department and players will also be involved
The Sports and Youth Welfare Department assured to spread the message of de-addiction to the players and youth through sports academies, training centers and district level sports events and to widely disseminate the motivational messages of the eminent players of the state. The Labor Department presented an action plan to connect a large number of workers to the campaign through industrial establishments, labor organizations, Gram Sabhas and youth dialogue programs, while the Panchayat and Rural Development Department shared the strategy to take the campaign to every village through Gram Sabhas, women self-help groups and Panchayat level meetings.
There will be activity in every department
It was decided in the meeting that all the departments will conduct daily activities as per the prescribed action plan and their regular progress reports will be made available to the police headquarters. In the meeting, special emphasis was laid on the fact that with the coordinated efforts of various departments, wide public participation, voluntary organizations, educational institutions, sports world, social and spiritual organizations and media/social media, the campaign “Nashe se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0” will be given the form of a state-wide mass movement, so that the message of de-addiction can effectively reach the youth and every section of the society.
