Release of film ‘Sutlej’
New Delhi: Diljit Dosanjh’s much-awaited film ‘Sutlej’, which was stuck in certification controversy for almost three years, is now available for streaming on OTT platform ZEE5. This film has been released before the audience from July 3 and has become a topic of discussion on social media as soon as it is released. The film is based on the life and struggle of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
movie name change
The initial name of this film was ‘Punjab ’95’, which was changed to ‘Sutlej’ due to controversies. According to director Honey Trehan, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had demanded 127 cuts in the film, which delayed its release. Now the film is available with a new title without any cuts.

Diljit Dosanjh has played the role of Jaswant Singh Khalra in the film. Along with him, Kanwaljeet Singh, Arjun Rampal, Suvinder Vicky and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan are also in important roles.
Introduction of Jaswant Singh Khalra
Jaswant Singh Khalra was born in 1952 in Khalra village in Amritsar district of Punjab. He was previously a bank employee, but began working on human rights issues in the late 1980s. Operation Blue Star, the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots affected him deeply.
Khalra’s disappearance
In 1995, Jaswant Singh Khalra went missing under mysterious circumstances. According to various reports, he was last seen outside his home, and is alleged to have been detained by policemen. This case became one of the high-profile human rights cases in the country.
