Oman Weather Alert: Heat will increase and rainfall will decrease in Oman, Meteorological Department issued alert for July to September

The Meteorological Department has issued an important warning for the citizens of Oman and expatriates living there. Temperatures are likely to be above normal and rainfall will be very less in the coming few months. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued this seasonal alert for July, August and September 2026 so that people can prepare in advance.

According to the report of the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre, most areas of Oman will remain extremely hot. The temperature has already increased significantly in some places. Hamra Ad Duru recorded a temperature of 48.3 degrees Celsius, while in areas like Mukshin, Samail, Fahud and Sunainah the mercury crossed 46 degrees Celsius.

There will be a decrease in rain

The Meteorological Department has said that rainfall will be less than normal during July to September 2026. Especially in the eastern and south-eastern areas, rainfall activities may reduce significantly. The reason for this scorching heat is believed to be upper-air high-pressure system and north-western dry winds.

Caution for migrants and laborers

The government has issued special advisories for Indians and other expatriates living in Oman, especially foreign workers. To avoid heat, keep these things in mind:

  • Afternoon Sun: Avoid exposure to direct sunlight between 12 noon and 4 pm.
  • Water intake: Do not let your body become dehydrated and keep drinking plenty of water.

The World Metrological Organization (WMO) has also warned that El Nino conditions are strengthening in the Pacific Ocean, increasing the risk of heatwaves and drought across the world. This will also affect countries like Oman situated near the Indian Ocean.

CAA has also clarified that this is a long-term forecast. Therefore, people have been advised to keep checking daily weather updates as accurate information can be obtained only from short term forecasts.
