Women must get these 5 medical tests done as soon as they cross the age of 30, many serious diseases will remain away.
Health News: After the age of 30, hormonal changes start in the body of women. From this time onwards, the risk of many health problems like thyroid, anemia, diabetes, high blood pressure and diseases related to breast or uterus can also gradually increase. Experts believe that by having regular health checkups, many serious diseases can be detected in the early stages, making the treatment easier and more effective.
1. Blood Sugar Test
The risk of diabetes may increase after age 30, especially if there is a family history of diabetes or if you are overweight. In such a situation, it is considered beneficial to get fasting blood sugar or HbA1c test done at least once a year. This reveals the sugar level in the blood and prediabetes or diabetes can be identified in time.
2. Thyroid Profile
Thyroid related problems are more common in women than in men. Signs of this may be persistent fatigue, weight gain or loss, hair fall, irregular periods and mood swings. Therefore, after 30 years, it may be useful to get thyroid testing done from time to time including TSH.
3. Cervical Cancer Screening
Pap smear is considered an important test for early detection of cervical cancer. Experts generally recommend getting this test done at prescribed intervals from the age of 21 or after the start of sexual life. After 30 years, as per doctor’s advice, it can also be screened with HPV test.
4. Breast Screening
After 30 years, women should develop the habit of self breast examination. If you feel any lump, pain or unusual change, contact the doctor immediately. If needed, the doctor may recommend a clinical breast exam, ultrasound, or mammography depending on age and risk.
5. Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Test
High blood pressure and high cholesterol can remain without symptoms for a long time, but they can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Therefore, it is considered beneficial to get regular blood pressure and lipid profile checked after the age of 30, especially if there is a family history of heart disease.
