PM Modi said in the Indonesian Parliament – India-Indonesia relations should have a new beginning with ‘Ganga-Mahakam Vision’.

Jakarta, July 7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the country’s Parliament on Tuesday, the second day of his three-day official visit to Indonesia, called for ‘Ganga-Mahaakam Vision’ to give a new direction to the bilateral relations between India and Indonesia. He said the two countries should pursue future partnership based on civilizational ties, development, security, maritime prosperity and strengthening the common voice of the Global South.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Prime Minister’s address reiterated the commitment to further strengthen the age-old civilizational ties, shared democratic values ​​and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Indonesia.

Referring to India’s vision of ‘Developed India 2047’ and Indonesia’s ‘Golden Indonesia 2045 (Indonesia Emas 2045)’, PM Modi called for enhanced cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, connectivity, food and energy security, digital public infrastructure and emerging technologies.

Regarding ‘Ganga-Mahaakam Vision’, the PM said, “I want to present ‘Ganga-Mahakam Vision’ before all of you. This vision does not limit our partnership only to the needs of the present, but also paves the way for security and shared progress of the coming generations. We will connect our civilizational ties with the thinking of the new generation. From Ramayana to Borobudur, we will make our shared history the strength of the future. For this, we need to start ‘India-Indonesia Civilization Dialogue’. Should do.”

He said that India, together with Indonesia, is committed to further strengthening the voice of the Global South and building a free, open, inclusive and rules-based Indo-Pacific region.

Expressed gratitude to Subianto and the people of Indonesia for the highest honor

During the address, PM Modi also expressed his gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto and the people of Indonesia for conferring him with Indonesia’s highest civilian honour, ‘Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’. He said that this honor is a symbol of the shared democratic values, cultural heritage and deep relations between the two countries.

‘My friendship with Subianto is not bound by any copyright’

“President Prabowo Subianto talked about copyright,” he said. No one can have copyright on respect. My friendship with Subianto is also not bound by any copyright. Even though there is a distance of thousands of kilometers between the capitals of India and Indonesia, the distance by sea is only 150 kilometers. In many countries of the world, the sea has been a symbol of borders and distances, but between India and Indonesia, the sea has never been a symbol of distance but of a bridge. This sea is the center of our common future.
