Agreement between India and Indonesia, approval on BrahMos deal; PM Modi announced
PM Modi Indonesia Jakarta Visit On BrahmMos Deal: A new and historic chapter was added on Tuesday in the relations between India and Indonesia. A total of 20 important agreements were signed between the two countries in Jakarta, of which the most discussed was the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile deal. After ongoing talks for the last four months, India has agreed to provide additional units of BrahMos missile to Indonesia. With this, Indonesia has become the third country to purchase BrahMos after Philippines and Vietnam. Not only this, Indonesia has used India’s indigenous ‘weapon’ which proved effective in Operation Sindoor. It has also been decided to purchase air-to-air missiles.
Apart from defense cooperation, both the countries have also given a new direction to democratic and technological partnership. India will cooperate in developing Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) for Indonesia. During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with Indonesia’s highest civilian honour, which he described as a symbol of the deep friendship between the two countries.
Addressing the Indonesian Parliament, the Prime Minister emphasized on common heritage, democracy and strengthening cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. During his visit, he will also meet the Indian community and on Wednesday visit Indonesia’s famous 1000-year-old Prambanan Hindu temple. This visit is considered to take India-Indonesia relations to new heights at strategic, cultural and economic levels.
We will achieve the goals of Developed India-2047 together – PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Parliament during his visit to Indonesia, said that both India and Indonesia had started the journey of independence together. So both the countries will now complete 100 years of independence almost simultaneously. Let us tell you that Indonesia is working on Vision 2045, while India is moving forward with fulfilling the resolution of Developed India-2047. Due to which both the countries can complement each other in achieving their respective goals. PM Modi said that we are among the countries with the youngest population in the world.
Our country’s economies are among the fastest growing large developed economies in the world. So there we are all the major maritime powers. We are ancient civilizations and also natural allies of the future. He further said that his conversation with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto also focused on this thinking. Due to which our aim is clear that the mutual trust between us, India and Indonesia, will be converted into new opportunities for the citizens of both the countries.
Both countries are connected with Ramayana and Mahabharata – PM said
Referring to the historical and cultural relations between India and Indonesia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the relationship between the two countries is not limited only to maritime boundaries, but is also linked to thousands of years old shared heritage. He said that great Indian traditions like Ramayana and Mahabharata are still alive in Indonesian culture.
World famous monuments like Borobudur and Prambanan are symbols of cultural ties between the two countries. Whereas the national symbol of Indonesia is ‘Garuda’ Also reflects the deep cultural ties associated with India. Referring to traditional festivals like Bali Jatra, Prime Minister Modi said that these events strengthen the common heritage and historical bond of the two countries.
Indonesia’s ‘Krupuk’ Is it more crispy or India’s ‘papad’
On a lighter note, he said it was difficult to determine whether Indonesia’s popular ‘krupuk’ Is it more crispy or the Indian ‘papad’. The Prime Minister also reminded that centuries ago, traders and Sufi saints from Gujarat reached Indonesia via sea route. Apart from trade relations, they also brought with them the ideas, cultural values and social traditions of Islam.
Will take India-Indonesia relations to greater heights
Prime Minister Modi further said that Indonesia’s economy has grown rapidly in the last few decades. Today, India has also become one of the fastest growing economies of the world. He further said that I have full confidence that we will try to take the relations between India and Indonesia to new heights.
He further said that in the last decade the trade between India and Indonesia has increased to about 25 billion dollars. At present, the whole world has started recognizing India’s capability in the space sector. Whereas India considers Indonesia as its important partner in this region. And Indonesia has been India’s ally in every help for many years. Our India has also launched many of its satellites.

The sea between India and Indonesia is a bridge
Describing the relations between India and Indonesia as a symbol of trust, history and partnership linked by the sea, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that even though the capitals of the two countries are thousands of kilometers apart, the distance between us in the sea is only about 150 kilometers.
He further said that for many countries of the world, the sea may be a cause of distance, but for India and Indonesia, this sea is a strong bridge. The Prime Minister said that today India and Indonesia are moving together towards a new partnership of the future. The coming 25 years will be very important for the development and cooperation of both the countries. He said that for thousands of years, ships of both the countries have been carrying the message of trade, culture and civilization far and wide.
