Youth assists commuters in flooded Bhiwandi, Maharashtra

A young man in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, donned a Spider-Man costume to help commuters navigate the city’s waterlogged streets during the monsoon season. Inspired by the superhero, he took this initiative amid heavy rains that caused flooding and slowed vehicle movement, escalating commuter frustration.

The heavy monsoon rains led to significant flooding in several areas, resulting in widespread delays. Shadab, frustrated by the delay in official response, decided to take matters into his own hands. Speaking to ANI, he said, “I noticed that the Municipal authorities didn’t come here to address the issue of accumulated water.” He added, “Inspired by how Spider-Man helps people and saves lives in the movies, I decided to do the same in real life, helping others and clearing away the stagnant water.”

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Monday that district administrations have been placed on high alert due to the heavy rains affecting the state. Following a review meeting at the Disaster Control Room in Mantralaya concerning heavy rains and landslides, Fadnavis addressed a press conference in Mumbai. He said that the Mumbai Metro and buses are operating normally, with some disruptions noted on the local railway network. The state is on high alert as heavy rainfall and gusty winds continue to cause flooding and landslides across various regions.
