21 killed in landslide in China – Read

Two very scary news are currently coming out from China which is struggling with natural disasters. On one hand, while the death toll in the massive landslide in north-western China has increased to 21, on the other hand, hundreds of dangerous snakes have spread into residential areas with flood water in Guangxi region, creating an atmosphere of panic among the people.

800 snakes washed away in flood water

Let us tell you that the flood in Guangxi region due to Typhoon ‘Maysack’ in China has now brought a new and unique threat. According to local news agency ‘Hongxing’, a snake farm was completely submerged after flood waters entered a village in Hangzhou.

Due to this accident, more than 800 snakes got free from the farm and spread to the surrounding villages. In such a situation, the administration is now facing the double challenge of dealing with these snakes along with floods.

21 people lost their lives in landslide

According to Chinese government media, a sudden landslide caused massive devastation in Longnan city of Gansu province at around 7 am on Tuesday. A total of 33 people were buried alive under the mud debris.

After a tough rescue operation that continued till Wednesday morning, everyone was taken out, but the sad thing was that 21 of them had died. However, there is relief news that out of the people rescued from the debris, 5 people are completely safe, while 7 people have suffered minor injuries and are undergoing treatment.

Investigation into the cause of landslide continues

If reports are to be believed, at present the exact cause of this landslide has not been known. In the pictures and videos released by the government TV channel ‘CCTV’, it can be clearly seen that the sky is absolutely clear and sunny, amidst which rescue teams and three big JCB machines are busy in removing the debris. The administration is now investigating the reasons for the incident.
