PM Modi reached Prambanan temple with Indonesian President Subianto, echoed the mantra of ‘Om Namah Shivay’
Jakarta, July 8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with President Prabowo Subianto reached the 9th century Prambanan temple in Yogyakarta on Wednesday, the last day of his three-day visit to Indonesia. In the presence of PM Modi, the courtyard of Prambanan temple resonated with the chanting of ‘Om Namah Shivay’. He offered prayers and also shared a glimpse of this spiritual atmosphere on social media.
PM Modi shared a 28-second video on social media platform X and wrote, ‘Om Namah Shivay at Prambanan Temple in Indonesia!’ In the video, a large number of devotees are seen and heard chanting ‘Om Namah Shivay’ sitting on the ground with closed eyes and folded hands. During this time the sound of bells also resonates in the temple. Prime Minister Modi, dressed in saffron colour, is also seen standing with folded hands amid the chanting of mantras.

Reached the temple with President Subianto
Prime Minister Modi and President Prabowo Subianto made a joint visit to Prambanan Temple. Both the leaders visited the temple complex and PM Modi inquired about the history and cultural importance of the temple. During this, PM Modi worshiped in the temple as per the rituals. The temple priests conducted the puja as per Vedic rituals and bestowed blessings.

Had shared glimpse of the temple earlier also
Before reaching the temple, Prime Minister Modi, while sharing an aerial video of Prambanan Temple on Instagram, had written, ‘Majestic Prambanan Temple!’ He also shared a photo of himself with President Prabowo Subianto and wrote, ‘En route to Prambanan Temple from Yogyakarta with President Prabowo Subianto.’

Conservation project also inaugurated
Earlier, while addressing the Indonesian Parliament on Tuesday, PM Modi had informed about visiting Prambanan Temple. The largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. PM Modi and President Subianto also jointly inaugurated the conservation and restoration project of Prambanan Temple, which is considered an important initiative towards preserving the shared cultural heritage of the two countries.
