Search operation lasted for 5 days
On July 3, security forces had launched a search operation in the dense forests of Mimandar area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district. This action was taken after receiving intelligence information about the presence of terrorists. According to the information, security forces had received information that two terrorists named Latif and Zakir were hiding in the area. When the security forces arrived in search of them, both the terrorists started firing on the army, after which an encounter started.

Information was received about two terrorists
According to records of security agencies, both Latif and Zakir were residents of Kulgam district of South Kashmir. It is said that Zakir had joined Lashkar-e-Taiba in the year 2024, while Latif had joined this terrorist organization last year. After this information, the police surrounded these terrorists so that they could not escape. To prevent the terrorists from escaping, the army’s special anti-terrorism unit Victor Force deployed extra soldiers and sealed all possible routes around the dense gardens.
Officials said that during the summer season, terrorists get a natural place to hide due to dense leaves on the trees. This makes monitoring difficult and creates blind spots in the security cordon, taking advantage of which terrorists can try to escape.
