Now Ishaan is not at fault… he won’t even notice and Team India will be wiped out!
Left-handed wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan made a spectacular entry in Team India this year. BCCI ended Ishaan’s two-year exile and gave him a chance in the Indian team for the T20 series against New Zealand and the subsequent ICC T20 World Cup. However, the debate was about where he would bat, as it was difficult to break the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson.
Ishaan usually likes to open the innings in the shortest format of cricket. In such a situation, it seemed that he would spend the entire series on the bench. Meanwhile, one position became vacant in the middle order and that was number three. Tilak Verma suddenly had to undergo surgery due to testicular torsion, leaving the position to Ishaan. Ishaan took full advantage of this opportunity and secured his place in the playing XI by scoring 215 runs in 4 innings at a strike rate of 231.18 during the T20 series against New Zealand.
After this he replaced Sanju as an opening batsman in the T20 World Cup. Sanju returned to the opening in the last stage of the tournament but Ishaan remained in the playing XI. Ishaan played an important role in India’s title win by scoring 317 runs in 9 innings at a strike rate of 193.29. However, since then his performance in the jersey of the Indian T20 team has been very poor, due to which he is in danger of being dropped from the playing eleven.

Has Ishaan become careless?
In Ireland, Ishaan was able to score only 13 runs in 2 innings. His strike rate was less than 100 (81.25). In the second and last match of the series, he returned to the pavilion after being run out on a personal score of 12 runs. After this, in the opening match of the series against England too, he got run out due to a misunderstanding with Abhishek Sharma. In the next match, he scored 49 runs but for this he played 40 balls, due to which India could not reach the huge score and England won easily and took the lead.
A big innings was expected from him in the third match played on Wednesday (July 7) but he could score only 13 runs in 9 balls. In the current series against England, he has been able to score only 62 runs in 3 innings at a strike rate of 121.56. Due to his careless attitude, questions are now being raised about his place also.

Will Ishaan be cleared?
Sanju has been dropped for 15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. However, India has not got any benefit from his exclusion and the team has lost two consecutive matches and is 0-2 behind in the 5-match series. Head coach Gautam Gambhir has indicated that Sanju may return in the upcoming matches. Vaibhav is likely to be given a chance for a longer period of time. In such a situation, if Sanju comes back to the playing XI, then who will replace him is a big question.
If Sanju plays, Ishaan, who has already confirmed his place at number 3, may have to go out. However, the team management would not like to rush into taking a decision on Ishaan. Now it is up to Ishaan to correct his continuous mistakes and secure his place, otherwise he may become a victim of the tough competition going on in the team.
