ICC Rankings: Ishaan and Abhishek shine in ICC rankings, know which are the big updates?

New Delhi. The latest ICC T20 Rankings have brought relief news for the Indian team, which is facing consecutive defeats in the T20 series against England. Despite a record 125-run defeat at the hands of England, Indian batsmen Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma have retained the first and second positions respectively in the T20 International batsmen’s rankings. However, England players have also got a big reward for their strong performance against India. Many players of the host team have made huge leaps in batting, bowling and all-rounder rankings.

Ishaan and Abhishek remain in the top two

India’s young batsmen Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma remain at the first and second positions in the latest ICC rankings for T20 batsmen. The team’s recent poor performance has had no impact on his individual ranking. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer, who is taking over the new captaincy against England, has also made a big jump in the rankings. After scoring 68 runs in the rain-affected first T20 and 37 runs in the second match, Iyer has jumped 425 places to joint 93rd position.

Big advantage for Jacob Bethel and Sam Curran

England’s young batsman Jacob Bethell played a match-winning inning of unbeaten 76 runs on 46 balls in the second T20 against India. He got a big benefit from this performance and he jumped seven places to reach eighth position in T20 batting rankings. Sam Curran also made impressive gains in all three departments. After registering figures of 3/33 in the second T20 and scoring unbeaten 41 in the third, he moved up 12 places to 108th in the batting rankings. In the bowlers’ list too, he jumped 12 places to reach joint 71st position, while in the all-rounder rankings he moved up six places to joint 13th position.

Ranking of Rashid and Will Jacques improved

Experienced leg spinner Adil Rashid improved one place in the bowling rankings by taking two wickets in the third T20 and has now reached the third position. Whereas fast bowler Josh Tong made it to the rankings for the first time by taking four wickets in his second T20 International match. He is jointly ranked 301st. All-rounder Will Jacques also performed impressively with the ball and jumped six places to reach seventh place in the top-10 of the T20 all-rounder rankings.

Sri Lanka’s jump in test ranking

In the Test rankings, Sri Lankan opener Lahiru Udara played a career-best inning of 188 runs in the second Test against West Indies. On the basis of this, he jumped 52 places and achieved 85th position. Kamindu Mendis moved up two places to sixth, while fast bowler Asitha Fernando, who took five wickets, moved up to 20th in the bowling rankings. West Indies’ Justin Greaves jumped 14 places to 49th position after scoring 180 runs. Shai Hope, on the basis of his century, moved up six places to reach 51st position.

Players of Zimbabwe and Bangladesh have advantage in ODI rankings

In the ODI rankings, Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana has jumped 17 places to 12th position after his career-best performance of 6/21 against Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe fast bowler Richard Ngarawa moved up to 19th, while Brad Evans and Blessing Muzarabani also gained 17 places each to 111th and 33rd respectively. Team India’s difficulties may have increased against England, but the latest ICC rankings show that the individual supremacy of Indian players still persists. At the same time, the players of England have presented a strong claim in the ranking with their excellent performance.
