PM Modi leaves for Australia after completing his visit to Indonesia, 5 fighter jets salute
Jakarta, July 8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Australia on Wednesday evening after completing a successful three-day visit to Indonesia. Even while returning, he was escorted by five fighter jets as a mark of respect.
Even before reaching Indonesia, the fighter planes had welcomed him in the same manner. Before landing, fighter jets of the Indonesian Air Force escorted PM Modi’s aircraft. This honor is considered part of a special state welcome. After this, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto himself was present at Jakarta airport to give a grand welcome to PM Modi.
Today the farewell also took place with the same respect. Once again the Indonesian President arrived to see him off respectfully. He bid farewell to PM Modi with a hug. At the end of the visit, PM Modi expressed satisfaction and said that he is extremely satisfied with the results achieved regarding the future of the partnership between the two countries.
In a post on social media handle I sincerely thank the people of Indonesia and President Prabowo Subianto. He showed great warmth and personal commitment to take India-Indonesia relations to new heights.

PM Modi said that the visit has opened new avenues of cooperation in the areas of defense and security, maritime cooperation, critical and emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, digital innovation and capacity building. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the people of Indonesia and President Prabowo Subianto for their warm welcome and his personal efforts to take India-Indonesia relations to new heights.

On the third and last day, PM Modi offered prayers at the thousand-year-old Prambanan temple in Yogyakarta. As a special honour, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto also reached the temple premises with him. During this, both the leaders unveiled a plaque symbolic of the beginning of the conservation and restoration project of the temple complex by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
This visit of Prime Minister Modi was important in further strengthening the bilateral relations between India and Indonesia. Indonesia was the first leg of the three-nation tour from 6 to 11 July 2026, which ended today. After this, PM Modi will now be on a tour of Australia and New Zealand.
