PM Surya Ghar: Solar panels are being installed in eight houses every day, now a big relief from the worry of electricity bill.
In Sarangarh Bilaigarh district, people’s inclination towards solar energy is continuously increasing (PM Surya Ghar). From villages to cities, a large number of families are installing solar panels on their rooftops. Its effect is now clearly visible on the electricity bill and many families are getting good savings every month.
With the joint efforts of the administration, electricity department, banks and women self-help groups, the scheme is progressing rapidly in the district. On an average, eight new houses are joining this scheme every day, thereby strengthening the identity of the district towards energy self-reliance.
More than 550 solar systems installed in three months PM Surya Ghar
In the current financial year 2026-27, the district has achieved the target of installing 4312 solar connections. To accomplish this, work is being done in mission mode. Rooftop solar systems have been installed in more than 550 homes, commercial establishments and government and private institutions during April, May and June. Apart from this, the process of establishment is also going on on 780 new applications.
1700 families got direct benefits
Till now, more than 1700 families of the district have taken advantage of the scheme. These families have produced 5.88 lakh units of green energy from the solar panels installed on their rooftops. Due to this, the beneficiaries have so far saved electricity bills worth Rs 25.80 lakh. Through the scheme, people are generating their own electricity needs and also reducing electricity expenses.
Subsidy up to Rs 1.08 lakh
Under the scheme, a maximum subsidy of up to Rs 1.08 lakh (PM Surya Ghar) is being given to the eligible beneficiaries by the Central and State Government. This amount is deposited directly into the bank account of the beneficiary, due to which the cost of installing solar system is significantly reduced and more families are joining this scheme.
New employment opportunities also created
The rooftop solar campaign is not only saving electricity but has also increased employment opportunities for the local youth. Technicians installing solar systems, authorized vendors and people involved in other related services are also getting the benefit of this campaign. Besides, environmental protection is also being promoted through the use of clean energy.
Bihaan women increased awareness
Women self-help groups of Bihan have played an important role in making the scheme successful in rural areas. The women of the group are going from village to village giving information about the scheme to the people and helping in the application process. The scheme is being expanded continuously in coordination with banks, electricity department and authorized vendors.
Online application facility
Application for the scheme can be made completely online (PM Surya Ghar). Interested consumers can apply through PM Surya Ghar portal, PM Surya Ghar mobile app, CSPDCL’s Mor Bijli app or toll free number 1912. The rapidly increasing participation in the district shows that solar energy is no longer just a scheme but is becoming an effective means of electricity saving, economic benefits and environmental protection.
