Sourav Ganguly ICC Hall of Fame: Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has been given a big honor by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on his 54th birthday (Wednesday). Ganguly has been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. For this the former captain has thanked ICC President Jai Shah.
Sourav Ganguly has given this information on social media. The former captain wrote on Twitter, ‘Thank you to ICC and President Jay Shah for inducting me into the Hall of Fame. This is a huge honour. One of the 10 Indians to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. It’s amazing to be among some of the best names.” Ganguly has also tagged BCCI in his post.
Indian honored with ICC Hall of Fame
The International Cricket Council (ICC) can make its official announcement at the end of its annual meeting in Edinburgh on July 11. Other first Indians to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame are Bishan Singh Bedi (2009), Sunil Gavaskar (2009), Kapil Dev (2010), Anil Kumble (2015), Rahul Dravid (2018), Sachin Tendulkar (2019), Vinoo Mankad (2021), Diana Edulji (2023), Virender Sehwag (2023), Neetu David (2024) and MS Dhoni (2025).

Team India became aggressive under Dada’s captaincy
Sourav Ganguly has been a big name in Indian cricket. With his batting and captaincy, he gave new heights to Indian cricket. Ganguly took over the captaincy of the Indian team which was battling match-fixing allegations in 2000 and gave a strong and powerful identity to the team with his leadership abilities.
Under the captaincy of Ganguly, India started winning Tests abroad and started giving tough competition to the opposition teams in the ODI format. Under Ganguly’s captaincy, India won the NatWest Series in England, were joint winners of the Champions Trophy in 2002, and played the final of the 2003 ODI World Cup.
Sourav Ganguly’s career
Ganguly, who debuted in ODI in 1992 and Test format in 1996, played 113 Tests and 311 ODIs for India in a career that lasted till 2008. In Tests, he scored 7,212 runs with the help of 16 centuries and 35 half-centuries and in ODI, he scored 11,363 runs with the help of 22 centuries and 72 half-centuries. Ganguly has 32 wickets in Test and 100 wickets in ODI.
