Ahmedabad. A cattle herder was injured in a lion attack in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district on Monday. Forest department officials gave this information. According to officials, a video of the incident has also gone viral on social media, in which a lion is seen holding the hand of a person lying on the ground in its jaws, while people nearby are trying to shoo it away.

He told that the incident took place in the morning in Garjia village of Palitana taluka when a person named Kalubhai Parmar had gone to give fodder to his cattle. “Preliminary information suggests that the lion would have passed through the area, but it appears that it was provoked, which may have made it aggressive,” said Chirag Amin, deputy conservator of forests, Shetrunji wildlife division.

He told that this area is an area with movement of wildlife. Officials said that the injured Parmar has been admitted to a hospital in Bhavnagar and his condition is now out of danger.

Parmar said, I had gone to feed my cow in the morning. The lion was sitting there and suddenly he attacked me. He threw me on the ground and caught my hand in his jaws. He held my hand for about half an hour. When he loosened his grip, I ran away from there. Amin said the lion has been identified as a semi-adult male lion and an operation is underway to capture it.
