Luxury SUV: 2026 Defender range revealed with new variants, 6-seater layout and new engines

Luxury SUV: Land Rover has introduced the Defender 2026 range with several important updates. This time the biggest change has been seen in the form of the new Defender Vertex variant, which has been specially designed keeping in mind the urban customers. Apart from this, the SUV has also got a new engine, updated Trophy Edition and a new 6-seater layout in Defender 110.

New Defender Vertex variant
A new Vertex variant has been added to the 2026 Defender lineup, which will be offered with the Defender X trim. This variant will be available in three body styles, Defender 90, Defender 110 and Defender 130. This is the first variant after Defender Octa, in which major changes have been made in the exterior design.

What changed in the exterior?
The new Defender Vertex has a larger front grille than before. Its front and rear bumpers have been designed with Carpathian Gray finish. The SUV has been provided with newly designed fog lamps, yellow brake callipers and recovery eyes. Apart from this, body-coloured cladding, side sills and gloss black roof spoiler give it a more premium and sporty look.

  • The Defender Vertex comes with 22-inch Satin Dark Gray alloy wheels as standard. Customers can also opt for 22-inch Gloss Black or 20-inch Satin Dark Gray alloy wheels.
  • The SUV is offered in six exterior colors namely Fuji White, Santorin Black, Woolstone Green, Borasco Grey, Carpathian Gray and Patagonia White Matte.

Defender Trophy Edition also updated
Land Rover has also given a new update to the Defender Trophy Edition. Now it will be available with Sardinia Black exterior finish. Besides, customers will also get more options for interior customization than before.

New 6-seater option in Defender 110
The company has added the option of 6-seater configuration for the first time in Defender 110. Captain seats are provided in the second row, which have better support, armrest and manual recline feature. With this layout, reaching the third row has also become easier than before.

New 3.0-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine
A new 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder mild-hybrid petrol engine (P380) has been included in the 2026 Defender range. This engine generates power of 380hp and torque of 550Nm.

At the same time, Defender Octa gets a 4.4-liter twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine taken from BMW. The engine has been updated to conform to the new Euro 6 Emissions Regulations, after which its maximum power has reduced from 635hp to 540hp. However, its peak torque of 750Nm has been retained as before.
