Delhi Ends GPA-Power of Attorney Property: Now a big change will be seen in the unauthorized colonies of Delhi regarding GPA i.e. General Power of Attorney. According to media reports, now there will be no registration of property, house or shop etc. in unauthorized colonies in Delhi on the basis of GPA. Now all the sub-registrars of Delhi will closely examine the documents of all the GPAs coming for registration.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, GPA has now been made much stricter than before to prevent stamp duty evasion and other types of fraud in the purchase and sale of property. Till now, if someone used to save tax or other money to buy property on the basis of GPA, now this will not happen.

Registration will not be based on GPA

According to media reports, now only those with blood relations will be able to sell their property. That is, now the GPA done in the name of any outsider or third person, except blood relation, will not be able to be registered directly. Before this, the property will be strictly checked by the Sub Registrar. Now the Delhi government has tightened its grip on the buyers who cheat the government by luring them with low stamp duty. GPA given to any person other than parents, siblings or spouse will not be directly registered in the sub-registrar offices.

All registrars will investigate strictly

Now there will be so much strictness regarding GPA in Delhi that action can be taken against officials for violation. Now the government has instructed the Collector of Stamps that in such cases a written order will have to be issued within 30 days. Now all the sub-registrars of Delhi will scrutinize every GPA document coming for registration. The sub-registrar will now see whether there is any mention of money transaction in the case. In such a situation, it will be seen that there is no mention of handing over the possession of the property. Or the GPA is not immutable and does not have any right to sell, gift, transfer or mortgage the property.
