Terrible warning from weather department, red alert issued for heavy rain in these districts of UP
Monsoon rains have become a natural disaster in Uttar Pradesh and have completely devastated life. Especially in western Uttar Pradesh, the situation has become very serious due to continuous torrential rains for the last three days. Only flood of water is visible from roads to streets. According to meteorologists, this period of sky disaster, which started on Tuesday due to the intensified monsoon trough line, continued for the third consecutive day on Thursday. Due to this heavy rain, many people have lost their lives in different accidents.
Incessant rains have put a brake on the pace of West UP. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the administration has issued strict orders to keep all schools closed on Friday in five districts including Meerut, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Bulandshahr and Hapur. In fact, within the last 24 hours, a record 310 mm rainfall has been recorded in Najibabad, Bijnor, which has broken the records of the last several years. The rain that started in Meerut and its surrounding areas on Wednesday evening continued without any pause till Thursday night, due to which the entire area has been submerged.
Broken connections and rivers in spate
The worst impact of this heavy rain has been on traffic and communication routes. The road near Deval village on the Bijnor-Meerut road was completely submerged in water, due to which direct connectivity of Bijnor with Meerut and Muzaffarnagar has been cut off. For security reasons, the police have banned the entry of vehicles going towards Meerut and the traffic is being diverted to other routes. At the same time, the temporary bridge of Poondarikalan in Nagalsoti area was washed away in the strong flow of water.
The rainy rivers are in spate due to continuous inundation of water in the hilly and plain areas. In Saharanpur, the rainy rivers of Shivalik region are flowing near the danger mark. A woman and two children riding a bike got trapped in the strong current of Sahasra river near Jaitpur Kala here, who were rescued safely by the local people with their wisdom. In view of the situation, the movement of devotees on the famous Shakambhari Devi Marg has been completely stopped.
Lives lost in accidents, loss worth crores
This disaster has left unforgettable wounds to many families. Two people died tragically when the boundary wall of a mosque complex in Khurja, Bulandshahr collapsed, while four people were seriously injured. In Pilkhuwa of Hapur too, a father died after being buried under the debris when a house collapsed and his son got injured. On the other hand, in Sarurpur, Meerut, a farmer lost his life due to electrocution in his motor while working on his farm, while his son who went to save him got burnt.
In Muzaffarnagar, Minister of State Kapil Dev Aggarwal himself inspected various waterlogged areas to take stock of the flood-like situation. In Bhokarhedi here, 20 goats died after being buried under the debris after a kutcha house collapsed. The situation is also out of control in Baghpat, where due to soil erosion near Pali village on the Delhi-Saharanpur National Highway, the highway railings caved in and electricity in about 150 villages was completely cut off.
Meteorological Department’s warning: Danger is not over yet
According to the Meteorological Department, the low pressure area and large cloud system over Madhya Pradesh has been attracted by the cold winds coming from North India. This is the reason why this system has now settled over south-western Uttar Pradesh (Agra, Jhansi, Aligarh).
Meteorologists predict that in the next 24 hours, this system will gradually move towards the north-eastern direction, due to which the monsoon trough line will also move up. On Friday also, the department has issued a ‘red alert’ of heavy to very heavy rain in more than 10 districts of the state including Banda, Sonbhadra, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Kanpur and Gautam Buddha Nagar and advised people to remain alert.
