On July 9, 2026, Kuwait’s air defense system shot down 3 ballistic missiles, 1 cruise missile and 10 drones from Iran in the air. Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry clearly stated that the security of their land and citizens is a line that cannot be crossed. The ministry has called it a major violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Situation in Bahrain and Jordan

There were also air strikes in Bahrain on 9 July due to which sirens started ringing and explosions were heard in the capital Manama. Bahraini Army (BDF) said that they foiled several air strikes by Iran. Bahrain’s Foreign Minister told the United Nations that since February 28, Iran has carried out a total of 808 attacks, which included 203 missiles and 605 drones.

The Jordanian army said that they shot down 8 missiles coming from Iran. However, there has been no loss of life or property due to the fragments of these missiles.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that they have attacked American bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. Iran claims that they targeted the Patriot air defense system in Kuwait and the fuel depot in Bahrain. Besides, missiles were also fired at Jordan’s Al-Azraq air base.

Saudi Arabia and UAE have also strongly condemned these actions of Iran. The Saudi Foreign Ministry said that it is wrong to violate the sovereignty of a country. On the other hand, Qatar had issued a security alert for some time, but it was later lifted. The Qatari Prime Minister has spoken to the Foreign Minister of Iran and appealed to resolve the dispute through dialogue.
