PM Modi received grand welcome in Australia, got guard of honor in Melbourne; Met with Anthony Albanese and Scott Morrison

Melbourne, 9 July. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was formally welcomed in Melbourne, Australia on Thursday. He was given a Guard of Honor at a ceremony held at Government House Victoria. During this, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese welcomed him warmly. During the ceremony, the tune of the Indian national anthem was also played and the message of strength of relations between the two countries was given.

During this period, Prime Minister Modi also met former Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison. After the meeting, he shared pictures on social media platform Earlier, Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese participated in the India-Australia CEO Forum. Both the leaders met business leaders and while addressing them, emphasized on giving new impetus to trade, investment and economic cooperation.

Active since 2012, the India-Australia CEO Forum is working with the aim of strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries. It was reactivated by Prime Minister Modi and Anthony Albanese in the year 2023. This forum gives suggestions to both the governments to increase trade, investment and cooperation in various fields. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Albanese will also co-chair the third annual India-Australia Summit. In this meeting, discussions will be held to further strengthen cooperation in comprehensive strategic partnership, defense cooperation, economic relations, technology, education and other important areas.

Prime Minister Modi will also meet Governor-General of Australia Sam Mostyn and address the Indian community in Melbourne. Earlier, on reaching Melbourne on Wednesday evening, the NRIs gave a warm welcome to Prime Minister Modi. Despite the cold weather, a large number of people from the Indian community gathered outside the hotel. The Prime Minister greeted the people amid slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Modi-Modi’. Local artists made the welcome ceremony memorable by giving colorful presentations based on Indian culture.
